Silly question but why would he try to make himself older? Most of the ones who fake their ages try to be "younger"

It is already explained in the articles why. As you can see he is not even sure himself what year to add. But at the beginning they constantly wrote that he was born in 1958. In fact, he did really look very young for a supposed 30 year old in 1984.
